The UK is currently in the worst state the public has seen since the Great Depression, with hundreds of thousands of people homeless and living in temporary accommodation while thousands more freeze to death in the bitter cold on the streets outside. The establishment's response to this crisis? "Just open more food banks and force the working class to set up homeless support groups with their meager earnings. Oh, and make sure they're all out of the way on the day of the Royal Wedding!"
Fuck that #FuneralsNotWeddings
They're cunts! No red-and-black-blooded anarchist or anyone else with compassion for their fellow human beings is going to allow comrades to die on the streets with nothing but a cardboard box to protect them from the harsh English temperatures, and so it's only right that direct action groups use their skills and knowledge to prevent that from occurring. Of course, while people do all they can to help those most vulnerable, the actions of non-state-run assistance programs for homeless people, while providing a lifeline to adults and children in need, can also mask the problem somewhat.
We want to get rid of the state, the monarchy, and all forms of hierarchical authority in our society, and so fully support all charitable community organisations focused on improving the lives of the people most let down by the UK establishment. It's just crucial that those feeding the homeless on our streets and collecting money for sleeping bags don't do so in silence. You need to get angry as fuck about the fact that you're having to do it when the Government has more than enough money and resources to give everyone a roof over their heads.
If you're part of a group that supports homeless people, start keeping records of everything you do. Create a log that you can publicise and stick under the noses of other people in your community. Make your voice heard at your local council and shout so fucking loud it's impossible for those pricks to ignore you. Don't mask the housing crisis with your good nature because that's what the bastards who continue to cause it want!
On 1st January this year, the BBC reported there are more than 216,000 homes in the UK that had been empty for more than six months. 11,000 of them have been without human life for more than a year! Is it right that we live in a society where the rich fat-cat landlords and their Eton-graduating, subsidised-fish-and-chips-eating, politician puppets allow and even encourage this blatant disregard for decency and justice? No it is fucking not, and we need to do something about it.
Anarchists believe in creating a democratically-run society in which there are no forms of oppression, and every man, woman, non-gender conformist, and child has the right to take part in any and all decisions that affect their lives. This is about more than just putting a tick in a box every four years and choosing between someone who clearly thinks you're scum, and someone who pretends they don't. Through anarchy, it's possible for workers to take control of their lives and build a world based on co-operation and respect rather than violence and coercion. Free housing for all. Free food for all. Anything human beings need to survive? FREE FOR EVERY MEMBER OF SOCIETY. And how do we pay for it? With the money and assets those upper-class hereditary bankers and business owners stole from us for hundreds of years.
Homelessness is only one of the major issues terrorising the working class today. Just take a moment to think about what our slimy establishment is getting up to overseas. They've raped, pillaged, and stolen everything they could lay their hands on from the Middle East and Africa for hundreds of years, and while they might attempt to cover their tracks a little more these days, it's still going on right now. The Queen's military's intervention in Libya led to a situation in which there are videos online of slaves being sold in the streets, and British and coalition actions in Syria are almost too gruesome and cruel to imagine.
Theresa May's government has just met with Saudi Arabian officials and secured a new arms deal worth more than £100,000,000. They're selling equipment and military support to a country that's massacring thousands of innocent civilians in Yemen with no sign of halting its brutal campaign. While unconfirmed by official sources, we've all seen that video online that seems to show the dropping of a tactical nuclear warhead on the country and the devastation it caused. Yet we let this band of Thatcher-loving, armored BMW-owning, shit stains sell ever more weapons to the very regime that funds this oppression and chaos?
At the same time, those wankers still imprison republicans in Ireland without charge and lock you up for peacefully planting a few seeds and growing weed in your bedroom.
Fuck off. FUCK RIGHT OFF.
Capitalist systems are designed to create a wealthy and delusional elite at the very top and a vast pool of suffering and poverty at the bottom. That is fundamental to the basic make-up of the concept, and it's something we must reject at every juncture. There are probably only a few thousand dedicated anarchists in the UK at the moment who understand the revolution and the part they must play for the success of the movement going forward. However, there are thousands more poor folks out there in the working class who agree with the principals of smashing the state, but who feel terrified about the uncertainty of what comes next.
While there's endless propaganda spurted by the "other" side about the dangers of an anarchist non-state, this video gives an interesting insight into the situation in Spain during the 1930s when many parts of the country adopted the anarchist model. It's still the most successful attempt at anarchism in global history, and those people who feel concerned about living in an anarchic community are sure to gain some relief from this clip. It highlights the way in which Spanish people went about organising their lives, and it should provide a better understanding of how an anarchist system in the UK might work. Show this video to anyone who thinks they need a Queen or a Prime Minister to run their societies.
